Let Me Take You on a Tour

down memory lane, in a little place called Bar Harbor.

If your name is not Amy or Nicole, I am sure this post will bore you to death.  I won't be offended if you stop reading half way through, or even now.  Amy and Nicole lived there with me so this post is mostly for them.  But no matter who you are, by all means...enjoy!

My friends Trevor and Rabita and I flew into the Boston airport on Friday.  We got a rental car and then headed up to Maine.

Day 1! (Friday)

 MAINE! MAINE!! MAINE!!!
Then I found these little gems at a gas station.  Flip flops with fake grass.  Random find.  I sort of wanted to buy them, but refrained.
 Selfie with a moose.  Check!
Then we saw signs for moose crossings.  Which are a real thing.  Watch out for moose!!

We got into our hotel late and conked out!  It's so dark in Maine.  The stars are amazing though.

Day 2!
We stayed at Atlantic Oceanside Hotel.  This was our view the next morning.  Awesome!
The breakfast was complimentary but there were no more seats inside so we sat outside to eat in the 45 degree weather.  It was cold.  Very cold.
Then we went to see the barn!!!!!!  My barn!!! Love this barn.  Like...I love it.

Did I mention that I love ^^^^^this barn?!  Cause I do.
They built a fence around Toby and Chris's place.  And I think they tore down their old house and built this one because it looked new and I don't remember it being two stories before.
There is the suicide door on the back of the barn.  Like a real door.  That opens, on the second story...onto nothing...hence the name.
The door to the barn was open, so I peaked inside.  I looked just the same.  I didn't go up because I was sort of afraid of those stairs, even then, but especially now.
Here is the house next door.  Beautiful as always.  Good job Daltons.
Then we went downtown.  Here it is in all of its glory.

The Bar Harbor Inn.  Always amazing.
 And the shore path...
...with those islands out there that I never could remember the names of.
Here I am trying to push over this big rock.  I was unsuccessful.
Trevor trying with one finger.  He was unsuccessful as well.
 More rock and Shore Path.

Random selfie in a mirror in some random shop.  You. Are. Welcome.
The park that we used to eat ice cream (our dinner) at and listen to bands play on Wednesdays (I think).
 Rabita and I.
 Trevor (Tre-fo) and I.
Me and some random stick with seaweed on the shore path.
Rabita and I walking back from the Shore Path.  That is the ocean in that tiny little square in the center of the fence.
There are trolleys that you can tour the island on now.  Fun fun!!
Selfie in that old theater on Cottage Street.
 Rosalie's Pizza.  Good memories.
Thirsty Whale.  We ate there for lunch.  Delish!
Got me a Blueberry Soda.  Also delish!
Then we ventured on to the lobster ice cream.  I've been saying for years I want to try it.  Just to say I've tried it, for the most part.
I asked the guy after he scooped it if I would like it. He said, "Uhhhhhh...depends...Do you like savory things?"  Apparently I don't...because it was gross.

This is what it looked like.  And here is my excitement.
Here is photographic proof of my experience.
 Thinking...thinking...
...maybe...

...and NO!  This was before I gagged.  Hahaha!
When we stopped to get gas as we were just crossing the border into Maine there was a guy who pumped our gas for us.  He asked where we were headed.  We said "Bar Harbor," and he responded, "Oh...Baa Ha Ba."  And I laughed.  Because I forgot that is really how they pronounce it.  And then I found this bumper sticker later.  ^^^
Here is where we would buy our groceries.  Hannaford!!!  We went in, and I loved even their grocery store.  Because I mean...it's in Baa Ha Ba!
Here is the laundramat where we used to do our laundry, when we weren't driving all the way to Blue Hill to do it. ;)
Then we headed to our old work and stopped along the way to see a few things.  I think this is Somes Pond (maybe) near this cute little library.  I mean...look at that view.  Seriously Maine, you are amazing!!!  Good job.

 And then AC Parsons.
 And the first thing I see...EYESORE!! ^^^^^

And Geraniums!  Because what is AC Parsons without geraniums??
Nothing...I say.  Nothing.
There is Alan's house (minus Sue).
They now have ducks and horses and Alpacas!

Then we stopped again on the way back in Southwest Harbor.
And it was beautiful.  I mean, like really beautiful.
 Then the Seawall!!
And an obligatory selfie.  Because it had been like 10 minutes since I'd taken one.
Then we went to Beal's Lobster Pound...

...where we picked out a friend...
 and held him...
and then ate him.  Sorry friend.
Trevor almost threw up when we cracked him open and his guts all spilled out in a green/brown sludge.
Rabita took it like a champ!
Then we moved on to Echo Lake...
...where Trevor tried to make it echo. I don't think it worked.

Then we stopped and took more pictures.

After that we went back to Bar Harbor to walk around to kill some time...
...and stopped at Reel Pizza, just to take a picture.
 And to Toby's store.
They still sell ice cream. Obviously.
We then stopped at a bakery and bought some goodies.
A little before sunset we started up the Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunset.  And it did not disappoint.  But do you see that?? That is the real stuff right there, people.  Amazing!
 Creepy selfie.  Again...You.  Are.  Welcome.

This is us standing on a rock while someone took our picture.  This is right before I almost fell backwards and died...I mean...not really, but almost.  Notice my awkwardness right there.  I was a little scared.
 So pretty.
But it was so so so cold.  The kind of cold that when your hands are not in pockets or gloves, they just hurt.  Like, really hurt.  So it was probably like 45 degrees.  Or something.
 SELFIES!!! (Trevor was cold.  haha)

 Perfect end to our day!

Day 3!
On the way to Sand Beach!!

Oh my gosh...are you so excited??
Can you feel it?  I can totally feel the excitement building!!
 SAND BEACH!!
 SAND BEACH! SAND BEACH!
 So pretty!!

I tried to eat the cupcake I had bought the day before.  But it got sand in it...so then I was done.

Old Soaker out there on the left.
I braved the cold and dipped my feet in...and oh my gosh...all the knives in my feet, because it was so cold!!
And Trevor tried it too!
Like...are you seeing this???? Ugh...Maine.  You are too much.  And I can't get enough.
This is Rabita shielding Trevor from the sun with her purse.  She said..."I am his servant." LOL
 More selfies.  Duh!

And then I trudged through the standing water...because why not?? I'm in Maine, people!!!
 Park Loop Road.
We tried to go to Thunder Hole, but I didn't remember it costs $25 to get into the park.  Lame!
So we took more pictures before we headed back to Boston.
And then I started drinking because I was so sad about leaving my beloved Maine.
...drinking an Old Soaker (root beer) that is.
 And Rabita slept.
 We watched for more moose.

And then I cried a little as we left the state.

Okay...I didn't but I was sad.

See you again Maine...in 10 years!!  Miss you already!
